Farewell Reflection

“Things may end, but memories last forever!” This course has come to an end but the approaches or strategies I learned from this course will last forever by passing on to my students and to the future generations. This course ED 638 Teaching with the Internet has taught me a lot of effective strategies. I am grateful for all the skills and knowledge I have acquired from this class. I learned many helpful and informative strategies that I can apply in my classroom. Learning many things in Teaching with The Internet have changed my perspective and therefore will change my approach in teaching reading lessons to my students. This course is one hardest session and also very challenging, but to be challenged is one way that helps strengthen my knowledge.

Furthermore, I am grateful for all the things you have taught us from the very first start.  I have learned many effective websites that I can refer to them on doing my lessons to make it more interesting and motivating for students. It takes a lot of time to go through many effective literacy websites to choose to talk about but all those websites are worth it because I get to learn about many websites that can help me develop more interesting lessons. I now can use the websites to get worksheets, tutorial videos and many interesting resources. I have also learned some internet tools I can use to deliver my lesson and already have an account on talentlms I can use especially during this pandemic and will gladly share it with my colleagues for the better of our student’s learning skills. I also learned how to develop a lesson plan on using google earth. Google Earth is a great tool that can help student’s more familiar with their surroundings.

To conclude, it was nice working with my classmates because I also learned a lot from them by sharing ideas together and getting help from them. I would also like to give a big thanks to my professor Dr. Rivera for all the helpful things she taught me. Those challenging tasks, helpful strategies, feedback, and suggestions surely enhance my learning skills and will surely enhance my teaching skills. You taught, not just what ought to be taught, but also what you thought we needed to learn. Thanks for everything, farewell.

Farewell Reflection

This Fall Intersession 2020 course, ED638-41 Teaching with Internet, is one hardest session I encountered. I didn't expect that it would be challenging. However, I am thankful and grateful to my colleagues (classmates) and my instructor for all the encouragement words. I once thought to myself that to withdrawn for this course, but, from the encouragements I am able reach the end of this course. From the words of encouragements, I once thought to myself that why others could accomplish the course, and why I. Thank you instructor Dr. Rivera can’t and colleagues, it's my pleasure to learn from you. I learned so much from all the assignments and from the posts that each of you posted.

Furthermore, I am grateful and thankful for this course because it taught me many things. I learned many new different things from this course. I learned about the possible Internet Tools that I could use, especially during this pandemic. I could use them by creating classes, continuing to keep in touch with them, and helping them with their learning. For the Effective Literacy Websites, I am thankful for these sources because I would be able to use and share them with my colleagues at work. We would be able to use them to find different activities to use in our classrooms. Effective Literacy Websites are helpful for our English Learners. Lastly, the Google Earth is another useful source. This Google Earth will help us in the unit of Social Study. It is a great website or app to use in our teaching. Therefore, all the sources that I learned from this course worth a lot to me as a classroom teacher to English learners.

Being a reading teacher, I found this website very interesting and helpful. As stated in the website, practical resources for busy teachers provide activities, ideas, resources, freebies, and more to help you teach more effectively while protecting your time. Kalena Baker is the sole individual who founded Teachingmadepractical.com. You can find free resources on this website. This website provides effective resources for teachers to make their teaching practical in the classroom. Some of the resources in this website require a membership account prior for users to be able to download.

On the home page, teachers can click on the reading tap to get a free printable worksheet and can also find more free resources like back to school, text features, character traits and main idea.  Teaching made practical also provide lesson objectives that can help you develop more interesting lessons on reading such as main idea, cause and effect, compare and contrast, comprehension passages, point of view, asking/answering questions, connotation, summarizing, task card, theme, figurative languages, parts of speech and even multisyllabic word lists. Clicking on each reading resource will give you a worksheet and also provide an objective on what students will do or the activities they can do under each given reading resource. Teaching made practical also provides resources for the teaching genre. It provides reading passages, activities, and more for teaching students the characteristics of different genres. The  teaching made practical website also display seven reasons to do seminar style discussion in your class, provide mini lessons for teaching point of view and biographies, autobiographies and memoirs to engage upper elementary.

The home page of this website also provides back to school ideas, classroom management and scaffolding instructions. Back to school tab can give you ideas like icebreaker and back to school procedure. Under classroom management, it will give you ideas to help your upper elementary classroom run more smoothly and efficiently. Under the scaffolding instructions, it will provide you ideas and activities you can do to help your students be successful with difficult skills. This website also provides read-alouds that encourage overcoming obstacles, using rubric to make grading easier, and help students monitor their comprehension and low prep cause and effect centers. Effective Literacy Website 7

Inkless Tales- http://www.inklesstales.com/readers/ is my effective literacy #7. This website created by Elizabeth Williams Bushey. This is a great useful literacy website that teachers, parents, and students could use. It consists of poems, different kind of stories, and games. Furthermore, the activities on this website are owned by Elizabeth Williams Bushey.

As a classroom teacher for lower grade, I found this website useful for me. The stories, poems, and games, I believe my students will enjoy it because the students can watch and read along. This website would help the students with their listening and speaking skills, reading and writing skills. For example, the story of Lady Bug, click on the link, http://www.inklesstales.com/ladybug.html, to see the story. This story is a good short story for kids. The children could read along the story following the subtitles that shown. So, Inkless Tales is a wonderful website for younger children.

Lastly, I believe Inkless Tale is going to be a useful source for teachers and parents. They could use the activities on the website to help their children with their reading and writing skills. This website aimed to help children with their literacy skills. In an early age, the children will love to read and write. Therefore, if you want to learn more about Inkless Tale, please visit the website by clicking on the link, http://www.inklesstales.com/readers/.
