By exploring the literacy websites, I found the Ereading Worksheets useful and helpful for both teachers and students. Ereading Worksheets provides teachers, parents, and motivated students with high-quality reading worksheetsactivities, and resources aligned with Common Core State Standards. This website uses a skill focused approach where each activity targets a specific skill set, but you can also level. The resources on this website cover a broad range of readingwriting, and language arts skills. And this site has a growing collection of online reading activities.  You can click on the navigation button to look for online tests, worksheets, reading, writing, and language art that can provide you lots of resourceful and interesting activities that can enhance student learning skills.

This website features a sampling of the reading worksheets on this website, organized by skills. You can find more activity by browsing the pages that are dedicated to each reading skill. On the Ereading Worksheet, you can also select grade level and it will give you lessons, handouts, videos, PowerPoint presentations and worksheets for the level grade you selected. Ereading Worksheets provides a wide variety of worksheets covering different literacy topics such as figurative language, text structure, main ideas, point of view, etc. Within each topic, lessons are guided for ease and worksheets are categorized by grade level. In addition, every variation of each worksheet includes an answer.

I’ve been using this website for helpful resources for my students. This website also provides printable worksheets. Teachers can also search the topic of their lessons on the Ereading Worksheet and it will provide you the worksheets, examples, reading passages, or even give you activities on how to deliver your lesson plan in an interesting way for students to easily learn your lesson. E Reading Worksheets is a great resource for teachers to use to help promote literacy in the classroom.

My fourth effective literacy is between the lions (https://guam.pbslearningmedia.org).   It is an effective reading site to help kids get wild about reading.  This program provides collection of materials for early reading and language arts resources.  All the materials are organized by early elementary and pre-school literacy skills.  The program also provided videos on fluency skills, phonemic awareness, phonics, text comprehension skills and many more.  This program was design for pre K to high school.   The program provided activities for different ages and grades.

“BETWEEN THE LIONS” is a new PBS television series for children ages 4 - 7.   It is named after the four families of lion.  The names were Theo, Cleo, Lionel, and Leona.   The doors “between the lions” opened to reveal a magical place where characters pop off the pages, vowels sing, and words take on a life of their own. The series combines state-of-the-art puppetry; animation, live action, and music to achieve its mission of helping young children learn to read.

BETWEEN THE LIONS uses a comprehensive literacy curriculum kit to beginning readers. It was developed with reading and literacy experts from across the country, emphasizes the pleasures and value of reading as well as the skills needed for learning how to read. With this approach, it combed the whole language and phonics, helps confusing readers into an entertaining adventure for children and their families.

Get Wild about Reading created to help teachers integrate BETWEEN THE LIONS and its curriculum into your current classroom strategies. Topics are integrated into the classroom curriculum are Reading Aloud, The Sounds of Words, Print All around Us, Writing, and Using Technology.  The guide models the series of new approach. In addition to activities for the classroom, you’ll find suggestions for BETWEEN THE LIONS episodes or segments to watch, separate take-home activities for families. The home-school connection was the crucial one in reinforcing the series goal of teaching skills while conveying the joy of reading.

The take-home page in the guide offers fun, simple ways for families to engage in literacy activities together with the child.  Teacher must not assign these pages as homework.   Teacher may want to encourage children to bring the completed pages back to share with the class.  You can also adapt the classroom activities for take-home use.  All activities can be modified to suit your student and family population. The book lists for each section are also ideal for sending home to encourage parents and caregivers to read to their children. So get ready to get wild about reading!

Reading Rocket (https://www.readingrockets.org/audience/teachers) is a good site for teachers and students. They have extensive collection of resources about reading including topical research briefs and reports, descriptions and nonprofit, state and federal literacy organizations. They have classroom strategies; articles, books, videos, research brief and more for educators, parents, and other people working for young readers. Reading rocket has facebook, twitter, youtube and printerest. News tips sheets, children books, writing contests, literacy events and much more are available on this site. It is a well set up site to help a learner.

Reading rocket has a goal to bring the reading research to life. Since 1965, the federal government has invested more than $100 million to find out why so many children have problems for reading. Members of reading rocket know how to identify children at risk and how to help them before they fall. So reading rocket creates and disseminates free –based information about reading through their 3 services; PBS television program, online services, and professional development opportunities.

Reading Rocket is also helping struggling readers as well. They have guidance for parents and teachers to follow when teaching. Their guidance explained and gives out reasons why reading is so hard. Reading Rocket believes that kids should start reading at homes before entering schools to start learning the curriculum. Parents helping students at home will help out teachers in schools with their lessons prepared right away in classrooms. It is the best way to collaborate together to help students increase their reading skills from level to levels. This is a good site to visit with a student to make them enjoy reading at all times.

Effective Literacy #3

My effective literacy website #3 is https://poetry4kids.com. This website created by a former children poet (2013-2015) named Kenn Nebitt. This is a free website where you can find funny poems for kids, classic poems, games, poetry lessons and activities, plus a rhyming dictionary, videos, and many more.

The https://poetry4kids.com, the parents, homeschoolers, classroom teachers, or tutor in elementary would find it helpful and useful. It provides so many different sources to use when teaching children to read and write poems. It provides poem lessons where it specifies how to teach the step-by-step on writing funny, rhyming, and or classic poems.

Furthermore, this website, https://poetry4kids.com,  teachers and parents could use it to find teaching lessons and activities to help with their children., especially during this pandemic. The teaching lessons and activities could help to improve the students writing skills, especially in writing different kinds of poems. Therefore, I believe the author is willingly to help teachers and students to expand their learning in reading and writing, but especially on poems.

Lastly, I am grateful and thankful that I was able to see this site. I will be using this site or blog to find the teaching strategies and student’s activities for my class. I will share this website with colleagues since some of them are teaching on writing poems. If you want to know more about Kenn Nebitt's sources of poems, please visit https://poetry4kids.com.
